Just installed 3.8 and ctools 1.8 on a patched version of D6.19. Patches are: http://drupal.org/node/777116 and http://drupal.org/node/820366.

Tried the node template wizard on the story CT. Nothing happened.

changing to task - with the new node template wizard, it is not clear that you still have to enable the node template feature. Please add the text in the description under the wizard to this affect.
