MediaFront doesn't work consistently on the iPhone. If you visit http://www.mediafront.org you will see that file plays on the iPhone. However http://www.mediafront.org/drupalconsf (The BoaF meeting in San Francisco) does NOT play. Both of these reference MP4 video files.
I have read http://drupal.org/node/811978 and I think the issue runs a little deeper than just whether the video file is an MP4 or not.
Is there any chance that the MediaFront player on the home page of mediafront.org was put in without the module? Perhaps just using the Open Standard Media Player itself? OR can anyone at Alethia Inc. disclose the difference between the two video files?

damiandab commentedI testet the player with iBBDemo2 ipad simulator:
1) I opened the website mediafront.org
2) I could see the player but video(html5 video) was not buffering and ajax loader graphic was working all time
3) After I switched to another video "Mp4 Video Support", the video started to buffer and I could play it, then I again chose first video and it was working this time.
I hope my description will help to solve this problem.
Best,
Damian

damiandab commentedI think, there is a problem with - Auto Load - function. After switching 'auto load' off , I could play the video.

arsenalpilgrim commentedI have a similar problem. May open a separate problem report because I'm using vimeo.
MediaFront with vimeo plays fine on various browsers and inside several simulators including iphonetester.com. However, as soon as I run it on a real iphone,
the page loads with the thumbnails, however they will not play. The wheel spins. I checked the iPhone testings and it does have JS enabled.
I experience a similar problem if I enable Mobile Tools and use the mobile garland theme. In that case the MediaFront player does not load.
I have a separate view that just displays the thumbnails. These load and play on a real iPhone. The display is set to default.
Ideas, suggestions? I can give access to a test page if someone at Alethia wants to take a look.

mcfilms commentedOn my site, which just soft-launched today http://takefivemethod.com (plug plug) I found that in order to get the video to play back properly the QuickTime files had be mp4, but they had to use the H264 codec. If I opened them in movie player and the info said it was using the "mp4" codec, I had to re-encode them. I don't know the specifics of using Vimeo.
I'm pretty happy at the moment because I think I got all the video to play across multiple platforms.

travist commentedYeah, this should work across all platforms as long as you are encoding your videos properly.

Elder Brother commentedAfter switching off autoload, the poster image in my player initially loaded without the 'no play' icon in safari on a 2nd gen ipod, and the control panel came up on touch. After a few seconds the 'no play' icon appeared again though.
I'm delivering an h264 mp4 exported from Miro using the ipod settings.
I too am intrigued by the player on the mediafront homepage, which plays succesfully on the same ipod, while the drupalconSF player doesn't.

ajmartin commentedHi Travis,
First: thanks for all the work you put into this module!
Re: iPhone support I'm wondering if you could elaborate on
I have tried Quicktime Pro, and Miro Video Converter (iPhone settings for both) and followed the instructions/guidelines provided by apple, but I can't get any of my mp4 video to play on my iPhone4.
What are you using to encode your mp4s?
