How do you stop this?

Looked to be an infinite loop query in mysql itself. A mysql restart seemed to clear it..
If this is the case, its probably simplenews roles

FWIW, I'm also seeing this on Drupal 5.23 w/ Simplenews Roles 5.x-1.x-dev (which is enabled).

Every time cron runs, there are 4 duplicate notices at /admin/logs/watchdog saying:
"Newsletter subscription list was automatically regenerated."

We did a MySQL restart on the server, but the issue is still happening. I'm not sure what this would affect, and what can be done otherwise. But if someone has any other ideas, it would be appreciated...
