please clarify what this module does in the module description

Project:Vocabulary Permissions
Version:6.x-1.2
Component:Documentation
Category:feature request
Priority:normal
Assigned:Unassigned
Status:closed (works as designed)

Issue Summary

on first glance, i thought this module allowed the site admin to allow/prevent users from editing vocabularies and/or terms in a vocabulary. the name of the module strongly implies that the module enables permissions on vocabularies themselves.

in fact, it seems to do something else. i'm guessing it does something similar to read/write/view node grants.

i'm making these assumptions because after enabling the module and configuring a certain vocabulary with desired permissions, users in the affected role had no more (or less) ability to edit terms in the configured vocabulary or edit the vocabulary properties itself.

seems as though that is still configured using the 'administer taxonomy' permission, which affects all vocabularies.

You misunderstand the description because of the word "edit". Here "edit" mean attach terms to node.

You don't need the "administer taxonomy" permission. Read the description again, especially the "notice" part ;) Indeed the edit/view permission should be enabled by default (i.e. nothing changes if you enable the module but don't change the defaul settings), but I keep that for the compatibility with 5.x branch.

Then the following is correct ?

This module does not allow the site admin to allow/prevent users from editing vocabularies and/or terms in a vocabulary. It only allows to define which roles can use which taxonomy to tag nodes.

Just to be clear.

Correct.

Hello.

I've installed this module in Drupal 6.22 and I'm logged in as super user.
However, I can see no way of configuring access to vocabulary/terms, as "advertised".
Are there any known issues with other modules or something, that may be causing hte fact that no configuration per role is displayed in taxonomy vocabulary form?

Thank you for you help.

Regards.
