Allowing to pick and choose which images to display from a Image Field

Hopefully I'm not just being silly and don't realize how to do this, but when you go to add a field of type image, it would be nice if there was an option to control which images within that field were displayed. For example, I have a field under blog post that controls all of that blogs images on a sidebar, and as such, it can have any number of images within it. But say I wanted to make a teaser view on the homepage, and I just wanted it to show the first image, or maybe a specific image, it would be nice if in views, within that fields options, I could tell it which images to use. First, last, nth, or even 'use images 1, 4, and 8' etc.
