Would it be possible to make textile filter all textarea elements, regardless of the presence of any tags?

I really dislike the notion I have to enclose textile markup in the [textile] tags. Would prefer radio button or a popu-up list to choose whether to use it or not.

This is not an issue now with input formats in Drupal >= 4.5. The markers are optional.
