Support for Drupal 7 is ending on 5 January 2025—it’s time to migrate to Drupal 10! Learn about the many benefits of Drupal 10 and find migration tools in our resource center.
Problem/Motivation
We need to port project_issue to D7 so we can upgrade Drupal.org to D7 and so all the sites running project_issue can upgrade. This is a meta issue to coordinate this large task.
Proposed resolution
This issue summary has been moved into the Roadmap for porting Project* to D7 community initiatives page.

webchickDrupal.org needs this in order to move to Drupal 7.
dwwFirst step is a 6.x-1.0 official release.

There hasn't been a new release in pretty much a year. Granted most of my modules haven't been updated in that long because I have been busy with other things but someone might actually think the module is dead at this point.
Thanks
Robert

dwwYeah, except it's powering drupal.org, so it can't be that dead. ;) But yes, I hear you. We need at least another alpha, if not potentially a beta at this point. Problem is, all of us Project* maintainers are so busy with d.o-related Project hacking (d.o redesign, .zip file packaging, Git migration, etc), we continue to not have time to actually support this module and crank out the things that are non-critical for d.o (like official releases for our other users and the cleanup and fixes needed for non-d.o uses (e.g. when you're not using project_solr). Obviously, a D7 port will be critical Soonish(tm), so at that time, we'll be able to focus on the official release for D6 and make a new branch. Until then, volunteers are highly welcome to work on the issues tagged as 6.x-1.0 blockers (linked above).

I did say "think" :). I know that it isn't dead just saying that at this point working on fixing the blockers in 7 might be a better choice with the limited time people have to work on the project then worrying about getting a gold release for 6.
Thanks
Robert

dwwI'm going to absolutely refuse to start work on D7 until there's a 6.x-1.0 release. It's not about "gold". It's about fixing some stuff that makes it pretty unusable to non-d.o sites. This needs to happen, it just keeps not being a high priority, so it keeps getting pushed aside. This can't go on forever. So, before branching and working on D7 is a good time to draw the line.

dwwThere's movement. Sorry, I just haven't had a chance to shout it to the world yet. We're planning to do a D7 Project* sprint right after BADCamp. Stay tuned for more info...
p.s. And I'm about to release 6.x-1.0-alpha5 -- we've been terrible about official point releases. Sorry about that!

dwwAn update on progress and some plans are now available here: http://3281d.com/2011/10/26/report-from-project-7-sprint
I'd still *LOVE* some help on the 6.x-1.0 official release while we're working towards 7.x-2.0. ;)

dwwI just updated the summary with some related subtasks that I've posted in the last few days and/or found. There's still a *ton* of subtasks to formulate and post, and we'll be updating the summary as appropriate, but just wanted to let folks know it's at least starting to move. ;)
dwwadded links to a bunch of sub tasks
Comment #26
dwwLots of progress this week at the PDX sprint. However, to make it easier to keep track of the big picture, I've created the Roadmap for porting Project* to D7 community initiatives page and moved the useful stuff out of the summary into that. We can keep these meta issues open for people to follow, but I'm going to handle the whole roadmap in one place.

drummCalling this fixed since there is a working, although unstable, release; and the issue summary doesn't have anything useful. The mostly-done raodmap page at https://drupal.org/node/1551120 and 7.x issues, https://drupal.org/project/issues/project_issue?text=&status=Open&priori... are the best places to look for updates.
