Ive spent most of my time on drupal (4 years) trying to figure out how a module works instead of building my site. If its not Views its ctools and now its panels... I'm not picking on merlinofchaos- He's one of drupals BEST, that is just what ive been working on lately.

This is drupal 16.9... If the drupal community cant get there freakin modules to work at this point.... God help drupal 7.

I was so desperate for sanity I went to wordpress and let me say SETUP and use is WAY easier! I was shocked at Dries/Drupals braggadocios attitudes about how much better they are -

DRiES "WordPress is now approximately where Drupal was around Drupal 5 w/ content types. See you in 2015"

Drupal IS better for techs maybe but not for the average user! Thats why wordpress is KICKING the drupal communities butt in number of installation. This is like Microsoft bragging about there windows phone with 3 percent of the market. I think the Iphone has the rights to brag and I think Wordpress is the web equivalent.

Ive come back to drupal because of the power and flexibility of drupal but I HATE DRUPAL WITH A PASSION. It just seems like a "Bunch of techs writing code and chuckling at all the "Low life non coders" who cant use it."

I hope Drupal 7 deals with my frustrations but the betas don't look too promising.... I realize its BETA but when I cant even upload a module with the new interface, php.ini files dont work and ctools crashes the drupal install........ IM FRUSTRATED...

But...... Now that ive written out my frustrations...... I feel a little better.... until I realize there is no wysiwyg on this form to bold or anything....Its all html mark ups.. is drupal stuck in 1997?

.... back to my life long curse of troubleshooting another problem in drupal.... UUUUGGGGGG.

Some days I feel your pain, but would you prefer to hand code whatever it is you're trying to accomplish? Drupal and it's community provide a service that was unimaginable when I began building websites so from that perspective Drupal is absolutely amazing.

Of course there are hiccups and some modules don't work with some installations, etc. but the same issues arise when trying to do anything beyond run a blog on Wordpress. As for comparing the number of installations, there was a post on Mashable floating around a few days ago that does show that this is true and then shows the average cost per project to be triple for Drupal projects. So I say if you're serious about building websites then you may want to stick with Drupal. It can be frustrating sometimes, but the business of building websites is frustrating sometimes no matter what software, service, or open source platform you choose to use.

Anyway, I hope you get over your current troubles and that you find Drupal to be a service that is far superior to any other on the market. And remember that it is built from pure interest, enthusiasm, and kindness of the community, not for monetary profit but just to help the process.
