remove 404 "Page Not Found" for a non-Drupal sub-folder

I have a subfolder on my server (Drupal is in root) that I sometimes upload random files when I want to pass along a file to someone. I never create an index file, but just let them browse to the folder and see the files in it. Unfortuntanely, now, when I browse to that folder, I get the Drupal "Page Not Found" error. Is there anyway to disable this for this folder (or all folders I suppose) so that the contents of the folder can be viewed?

great file

Just found a fix, but posting here for someone else's future reference. This is a quick little script that indexes the folder for you:

Hm, some years went by and I'm facing the same problem. I want to use Piwik in a subfolder inside the Drupal root and all I get is a "Page not found" message.
