If my site is located at www.mysite.com and I have aliases setup for my pages (using pathauto), can I point a subdomain to an alias? For example, have

www.mysite.com/store/cars
be the same as
cars.mysite.com

Has anyone tried this?

Take a look at the subdomain module.
