I'm completely new to drupal (6 weeks going strong).
I apologize for the duplicate issue, but the closed issues I found surrounding this did not address my situation and I have been trying to fix it for about two weeks.
When I submit my xml sitemap, generated by the sitemap module, google gives me this error message:
We encountered an error while trying to access your Sitemap. Please ensure your Sitemap follows our guidelines and can be accessed at the location you provided and then resubmit.
Red X under line column, that message above under status, and details column says "Problem detected on: Nov 12, 2010".
I have resubmitted, and it keeps returning this issue. I thought maybe my permissions weren't allowing google to reach some of the pages, but i logged out and tried to reach page, and I was successful. Here is my sitemap:
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. This has been a real head scratcher, and it's kind of frustrating me beyond belief at this point. If any other information is required I apologize, and will promptly submit it upon responses. Thanks in advance, and I look forward to being a part of this community!

robert.redl@easytouch.cc commentedAfter chaning the settings at
admin/settings/xmlsitemap/settings
to the following values:
Number of links in each sitemap page: Automatic
Maximum number of sitemap links to process at once: 100
The resubmission at Google Webmaster Tools worked.
I had those values above set to the maximum, so it looks like a "taste" of the "grabbing" search engine issue for me, and not the Drupal module?

hunterish commentedeasytouch,
thanks for the reply! kinda new here, so I didn't notice I had a reply. sorry!
The settings you suggested were my defaults. I had these set and it wasn't working for me. It still says the same error mesage.
I'm going crazy! I just want to know what the issue is that Google is having with the sitemap.

lionheart8 commentedI am having the same issue.
I uninstalled & reinstalled the sitemap & regenerated links. I assume only valid ones where created. When I submit it to Google, I still keep getting:
A link that is given as an example actually works!

dave reid403 error is forbidden, hrm, that shouldn't happen. Do your anonymous user role have the 'access content' permission?
apodic commentedThe same problem with me. Anonymous user has the "access content" permission

prnorth commentedI had this issue but it is an easy fix.
Remember when installing a new module to set permissions afterwards. You need to make sure anonymous users have the permission to 'View published site map'.

gobinathmI believe based on the comments on validation of D6 module. It works as designed. Its not a valid issue.
