How to implement chat 1 to 1 as well as a chatroom/s

Hi,
I am looking for a module which can help me achieve the following
1) 1 to 1 chat
2) Chat room so that users on the site can all chat at one place
3) add users as buddies
from my limited reading of jabber on wiki, I think it can help me achieve all of this very easily. I saw a jabber module in drupal sometime ago, however it does not have a lot of information on the module page. I am looking for info like how does it work, how to implement the chat server , is it stable and usable for a production environment etc. can someone help please.

I want to emphasize that this is only a short term solution....
Then here is what you do :
1- Add a new block to your drupal home page, where you want this meebo widget to be located.
2- In the content of that block, SIMPLY paste what you will have copied from the meebo site. Paste that code. That code will have been generated for you and you only need to copy and paste it on your web page!
And you're done.
