installation problem on drupal 6.19

i'm trying to install drupal6.19 on localhost. first i droped the dropal folder inside wamp/www. then inside sites/default i copied settings.php.
i hav created the database on MySQL named sampled. i have created the user called admin password and i enabled all the privileges. on database configuration page i gave the database name, user name and password. then i click the save and continue button. the browser shows again the configuration page without any error message.

is that i need to change the attributes of default folder as writable. if yes help me to change that in windows. because i don't have linux or unix.
