Perhaps I updated to the latest version and that caused the problem but it has been great for over a year with no problems so i did not suspect it when my site started having sleeping processes on the mySQL server , every 30 mins the site would grind to a Holt then 8mins would pass before the site would respond again then it would run great for about another 30 mins and bang frozen again ...
I have the data set to YMML Melbourne Australia , perhaps someone else could confirm that theres a data source problem , or that the problem can be replicated , I disabled the module and its all fine now.
Perhaps there is a data time out problem or maybe its even having problems with my firewall, if anyone can tell me why this is happening I would be grateful as the weather module is quite handy for our model aircraft flying customers .
thanks .

I think it's the same issue as here but a patch has been worked out for Drupal 6
