I'm running Drupal 4.7.4 and have a special role for a subset of users which grants them the Edit Own Book Pages right. If I create a new book page and set them as the Author, it should (in theory) allow them to edit the page. This works with Edit Own Pages. But with Edit Own Book Pages, the View / Edit tabs don't show up for them... and if they try to access the edit page directly, they receive an Access Denied error. Any ideas on what may be up?

do the users also have permissiosn to create new top level books? i would simply recommend adding in a book, so that the users dotn have a conflict with recreating a top level book when they edit the page.
