Just curious if there is any plan to port this module to Drupal 7? If a maintainer were to create a branch for D7, it would enable the community to begin providing patches.

thepanz commentedI'm open to create a D7 branch as soon a patch or some effort in D7 direction will be shown.
Maybe following my latest comment on #351533-10: Split out a Pingback API module (Was: More Efficient Display of Pingbacks): try to create a common API for handling different blog-to-blog communication such as TrackBack, PingBack and BlogReaction modules.

threading_signals commentedI think you should create a D7 version of the API for trackback, pingback, and blogreaction module creation possibilities. Either that or update this trackback module. Trackback seems the most frequently used, due to the ease of implementation of trackback links by authors. There seems to be activity on a D7 port for the pingback module, but I do not like that module, since it adds pingback to the comments as the pingbacks come in, so the signal to noise ratio is not good for aesthetics or reading. Pingbacks are easier to use, but I'm not sure which of the three makes it easier for anti-spam modules to do less work.
Please follow up when possible, since I do not want to use the disqus module and migrate the comments later on.

thepanz commentedUnfortunately I don't have free time to develop a D7 cumulative/interoperable set of API for Trackback module (you know, paid works take the precedence ;) ) right now.
Feel free to provide comments or guide-lines for APIs, or patches for a D7 port of the TrackBack 1.x module (using new D7 features as Entities and Core-Fields for a Views integration?)..
Maybe a 2.x branch (or a new module/name) will be coded with the new API set...
Cheers

threading_signals commentedSounds good. Will be taking a look and feedback when time permits as well.

thepanz commentedHey guys, please give Linkback module a try (http://drupal.org/sandbox/manarth/1085608).
Manarth (I don't really know it he followed or simply had my same ideas ;) ) unified PingBack/TrackBack systems in a new module called Linkback available (AFAIK only) for Drupal 7. Comments, bug-hunting and migration tests could speed up the Linkback development path :)
Cheers

damienmckennaThe Linkback module looks really good, Trackback should point D7 users to it instead of having a separate module.
