Hello
I have a problem with Mailchimp module,
in admin/settings/mailchimp I've selected Opt-out as Subscription Method
but when I create a user (admin/user/user/create) which has the correct role
this user isn't part of the newsletter list
I have to subscribe them manually in their profile: Subscribe to the ---- newsletter

Do I miss something or is it a bug ?

Unless a newsletter is required, then users are only added to lists when they subscribe by one of the subscription forms (profile pages, blocks, or dedicated sign up page).

Why did you mark this as active, with no comment?

It was a mistake to mark as close

To comme back to the subject,
I still don't get how opt-out works

what is written in MailChimp module:
Opt-out: Users are automatically signed up but may unsubscribe.

I seems to me that doesn't work correctly

I'm sorry you are having trouble understanding how the module works, but it's not a bug in any case, this is a documentation ticket. In short, only lists marked as REQUIRED are automatically synched. A list marked as opt-out simply means that the subscribe field is checked by default on the subscription forms.

Sorry to insist, but I disagree with "A list marked as opt-out simply means that the subscribe field is checked by default on the subscription forms."
Let me show you the 3 screen-shots attached
subscribe op out.jpg -> options of the mailchimp module, so out-op is correctly set
add user.jpg -> add an user with the correct role to have access to the newsletter
subscribe newsletter.jpg -> this user has no subscription to the newsletter which means to me there is a bug with the opt-out
Please let me know if you need more details
and thanks in advance for your time, Mailchimp module is handsome.

You may disagree, but that's the way the module works and I'm not changing that part of it for now. If you want to get involved with development and contribute some patches, I'd be happy to work together on integrating them. I do sincerely appreciate you taking the time to communicate your issue, but simply disagreeing with a design decision isn't going to change it.

Again, if you want users automatically synced with lists when creating/editing/deleting users, those lists need to be marked as required.

Thanks for answering loubabe, I really appreciate
maybe the only problem is the description of opt-out:
"Opt-out: Users are automatically signed up but may unsubscribe."
should be
"Opt-out: Users can sign up and unsubscribe."
