Is Front Page module being maintained?

dublin drupaller commentedyep. currently going through a rewrite for drupal 7.x and some patches for drupal 6.x. is there something in particular you would like to see included in the next versions?

Stomper commentedI am not sure if this is already supported but it would be nice to be able to have users (authenticated and unauthenticated) be able to toggle between front pages. As well as be able to save the front page preference (only for authenticated users).
I would like to have the toggle option on the front page itself, perhaps under the site name.
I am running Drupal 6x for the foreseeable future, so perhaps a patch for the 6x version?

dublin drupaller commentedgood idea. would a link to "preview front_page for [role type] (opens in new tab)" suffice?

Stomper commentedInteresting, Dub. Would it be possible to also do it so that it loads on the same page without opening in a new tab? Also will users be able to save their homepage preference?
It would also be nice if a user could hover over the link and see a thumbnail image of the front page though not necessary.
I was thinking more along the lines of a "Change (or preview) homepage: [1]|[2]|[3]... |[Save]|" link where each number is a link to a different homepage. Perhaps, the "Save" link would redirect the user to the options list in their user profile page. This little widget/tool could be placed in blocks or under the website name etc.
Your thoughts?

Stomper commentedAnother thing that I have noticed with using this module.
I have set it up so that authenticated users are directed to a "authenticated users" frontpage once they log in. The path to either the authenticated or unauthenticated frontpage shows up in the browser address bar (see below).
Authenticated: http://drupal/authenticated
Unauthenticated: http://drupal/unauthen
Ideal: http://drupal
Is there any way the paths could be hidden like in the "Ideal" case above?
Stomper commentedAnother path related issue. If the user is logged out (unauthenticated) and enters the page url to authenticated frontpage in their browser's address bar, they will be able to access the authenticated frontpage (at least the layout, though some content is hidden via permissions)?
The path issue needs to be addressed as it is a possible security issue.

timhilliard commentedHi Stomper,
With regards to the ideal path, that is something that we are working on for the next release. As for the possible security issue, I would say that is not a problem with the front_page module but rather the permissions that are set for that particular page. In the redirect instance the user is as it suggests redirected to the page, therefore the permissions that are applied come from the page that the user was redirected to and has nothing to do with the front_page module.
Is there anything else I have missed?
Stomper commented@tim,
I am unaware of anything else at this time. I will let you know if I do. Glad to hear it is being studied for a later release.
timhilliard commented@Stomper: This has now been implemented in 7.x-2.x-dev and I'm currently working on the 6.x-2.x version. I will let you know when it's out.
timhilliard commentedHi Stomper, the 6.x-2.x version is now ready for testing. The feature you are after is called Alias in the new version. If you could help test this out it would be greatly appreciated and we can then get a stable release a lot quicker.
Cheers,
Tim

Stomper commentedtim,
That's great news and thanks for hard work, but unfortunately I am not currently using the module. For others who are, please test these new features.
tim, perhaps you should create a new issue to make others aware of the new version and features.

simon georges commentedThe "Front page" module is minimally maintained, but it is maintained. Feel free to apply as co-maintainer if you really want to help the module.
