When I first installed Gallery Assist a week ago, photos uploaded smoothly in the galleries I created. But now, after creating a new gallery, photos won't upload anymore. Either it would just freeze, or I'd press update, it would load for a while but then nothing happens and it would just revert to "no file selected."
I've tried clearing caches but still nothing. How do I fix this??

Hello artrs345,

I think nobody can help with this info here.
I need more information about your installations, submodules from GA etc.

Regards
Juan Carlos

Hi,
I don't have any other installation/submodules under GA. Just GA version 6.x-1.18, that's it.

Subscribing. Same here. I am using 1.8 GA version with loads of additional modules but nothing seems to interfere. No error message is given (nor in the logs). It is really strange behavior. The page seems to reload but nothing happens.

With upload assistan it's just the same. It does not find any files even if there is plenty of them in the import folder.

Thanks for any information!

Lukas

Hi to all, I have maybe found a solution for this strange behavior. Try to set permissions for all folders in the gallery_assist folder to (0)777. During migration from my test machine (Win) to production server (Debian) something went wrong with the permission settings and gallery assist stopped working. After reseting the permissions, everything works as expected again!

Hope it helps someone.

Hello artrs345

I have seen similar behaviour when trying to upload a large picture (thousands wide) when my PHP memory_limit was set at 32M by my hosting provider. Under request they increased it to 64MB and I didn't have the same problem. I believe it was ImageAPI GD crashing out as it tried to re-size the image / images as they were uploaded. It may have worked before for you with smaller images.

See Administer - Status report
and look for "PHP memory limit"

Also note that ImageAPI GD recommends 96MB min.

Hi there,

We are having the same issue.

We can create the gallery fine but when we Edit it to add pictures it will run as if it is uploading and then just reset the form with nothing uploaded.

This is becoming a serious issue for us so any resolution that can be reached would be excellent at this point. We have tried upgrading to the beta, we have permissions set on the folder to 777, permissions in Drupal are all set correctly for administrators to build and edit galleries.

It just doesn't seem to be working out for us at the moment.

Hoping someone has had some luck with this and get post up something we can try.

The only submodule I have installed is GA Lightboxes - let me know what additional information you need and I will get it for you ASAP.

Cheers
Hal

Version: 6.x-1.8 » 6.x-1.19-beta5

Same here - can't seem to get this to work at all. I posted in another thread, but the bottom line is that this is a critical issue for us.

i run into the same problem on my own site. funny enough, I've just enabled GA on a client's site where it works smoothly. on both sites, i've installed 6.x-1.18 + GA upload and import + GA lightbox. I'll try and describe the problem as good as possible, by comparing it to what happens on the client's site.
on my own site, the files/gallery_assist folder and its subfolders such as /1/import/tmp are created with owner 'nobody' (whereas on the client's site, it has his/the proper username). this means, on my site, that I can't even change the permissions of the folder (permission denied). I don't suppose the permissions are causing the problem, the permissions are the same as on the client's site - rwxrwxr-x.
when I try to create a gallery (whichever way, importing zip, importing images, uploading individual images), no images are added. I've checked the file structure, and it turns out that no folder is created to contain the images in the gallery (on the client's site, folders like root/files/gallery_assist/1/gallery_assist20 are added).
I have manually created the gallery_assist folder and its subfolders - to make sure they are attributed to the proper owner - but this doesn't change the problem. no subfolders for the images are created.
Generally, no error messages are displayed. only when i try to import 'files' (single images, as opposed to zip-files), I get the message: Het geselecteerde bestand files/gallery_assist/1/import/kinderfeestMMXI43.jpg kon niet upgeload worden omdat de doelmap niet correct ingesteld is., which translates as: can't be uploaded because the target folder isn't set correctly. I suppose this is a result of the non-creation of a folder for my gallery, and that this is the main problem. the client's site is hosted by another provider, so it could have to do with persmissions, but generally my hosting provider doesn't block the creation of folders by modules - GA was even allowed to create folders, albeit with 'nobody' as the owner. What's more, when I uninstall the module, the gallery_assist folder which I created manually (proper owner) is correctly removed.
I've reinstalled and updated twice, but that doesn't solve this issue.
I hope this description helps finding a solution, because I'd like to start using this module in the near future.
for now, I'll give the dev snapshot a try and report my experiences if they differ from the above.

Update: strange enough, last week it became impossible to upload individual images on my client's site. zip-folders were still possible.

hi

i've the same pb

GA 6.x-1.18
Drupal version: 6.14
Current used JQuery version: 1.2.6

a folder "gallery_assist" as been created with attributs : "775". i've deleted this folder to re-create it with attributs : "777"... i've uploaded photos and 1 new subfolder has been created : "10" with attributs "775"
and still no photos in this folder ... so i've deleted / re-created it with attributs "777", tried to upload photos and i've 2 news empty subfolders : "gallery_assist82" and "import"...

i've deleted / recreated "import" with attributs "777" and a new subfolder has been created : "tmp" with no files into

so i think the problem is the attributs of folders, no?

thx

Reference to this ticket with similar problems, I do not know if they are really duplicates: http://drupal.org/node/818320#comment-3092578

It helped for me to change the author of the node to an admin. Also make sure you have correct folder perm and check the php-errorlog
