I really like to use PM for my community-site. But I couldn't find out the following:

1. How can a user manage the contact list shown when someone wants to write a message? This list would fill up quickly and it will be necessary to delete items from the list.

2. Is it possible to have a notification email being send out immediately after receiving a new PM? I've found a few comments on this but I don't dare to try out these hacks. Is there any tested patch available to get this functionality?

3. I couldn't find any hint on performance issues using privatemsg.module. Are there any limitations? Does privatemsg use a lot of resources?

I would be very happy about some help.

1. new code went in today so a user's buddylist will appear in the contact list (merged with the existing list of people who sent privatemsgs recently)

2. yes, current code has options in user preferences to send email on every privatemsg and/or show a notice on every page of your site when there are new messages.

3. not a heavy load, unless tons of msgs and emails are getting sent..
