i haven't tried this module since i don't have 5.0 installed, but how about if you double clicked on the text of the node itself (cf. mediawiki?). that would be a big improvement in dru's usability.

There are other modules that are working on this type of inline editing. This module handles behaviors for what happens when you click on internal Drupal links.
