Hi. I'm paging through the very, very rich library of 4.7.x modules, and I'm trying to find one that will add a link to a node allowing a reader to send an email via a form to the author of a node. Essentially, I want the user to be able to send the email without the node author having to give up an email address. Is this possible with one of the modules?

its already possible with a
its already possible with a core module.
enable the contact module in adminsiter -> modules
after the module is enabled visit adminsiter -> contact form
allowing access to user profiles, allows a user to visit the authors profile and to click on their contact tab. The only way a user will know the authors email address is if the author responds back to the contact.
if you want more autonomy, you can use the private message module and allow users to message each other right on the site.

OK, thanks for the tip. But is there a good way to put a link to the contact form on the node itself?
EXACTLY!
This is the first sign I've seen that someone else can't figure out how to get the user contact form on the profile page itself...clicking the contact tab isn't that obvious - anyone figured out how to do this yet? I'm using drupal 5 though :)
Contact node author, i really need this...
yes, actually i need this.
i want a link in the node to the contact form of node author...

Tracking... I too need this.
Tracking... I too need this.
Try this one
I've just made a module that does exactly this, after searching and not finding one already made.
Check out http://drupal.org/project/authorcontact - it is only for 5.x at the moment, but I'd be grateful if people could download and test it. (I've just created the project so it might take a few hours for the release to be downloadable.)
