When editing a node using Overlay from the node page (e.g. from the node/1 page) the page refreshes when this is enabled for this node. This is because the editing page is display on top of and alongside the normal page display.

A check for this situation should be implemented to prevent this.

At the moment it is not clear if a check is possible. In the mean time a requirement check is added to give a warning in the status report screen. Added in 7.x-1.0 release.

Issued a support request in the queue of the Overlay module: #991806: A way to detect whether a page (parent window) is being "overlayed".

Actually this issue isn't solved yet, so changing Status.

This is not easily fixed without support from Drupal core. Marking as: Closed (won't fix).
