I have developed a Drupa site in a subfolder folder and then moved it to the root.
Three modules are complaining : filefield, imagefield and media_youtube.
They all ask a message along the lines of :
Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/var/www/drupal6/sites/all/modules/filefield/field_file.inc' (include_path='.:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear') in /var/www/drupal6/sites/all/modules/filefield/filefield.module on line 13
By placing the problem modules as a copy back in the sub folder, the messages disappear.
How can I get the paths to update to the new location?
I've tried clearing modules cache and performance cache but this has made no difference.

Did you change your .htaccess to change the location of drupal root directory?

Do you mean in settings.php?
I can't see anywhere in .htaccess which specifies the root directory.
The correct base path is set in settings.php though.

Install a new copy of Drupal
Install a new copy of Drupal in your site. Then move over all modules and themes. Then install your old database into the new one you just created.
So first thing you'll have a basic Drupal system running and accessible using your normal domain name. Then you make your new site look like the one you have been testing in the folder by copying over all your modules and themes. Then the most important thing is you upgrade your new database from the old. phpMyAdmin can help with that or module Backup and Migrate.
If you can't get a basic drupal system running then you have other issues.

I think I could do this at a last resort. I would like to think that there is just a cache table somewhere storing the url that could just be updated to avoid the site being offline.
Interestingly, one of the modules wasn't needed for anything yet and could be uninstalled and reinstalled, but even after doing that, it was still looking for the none existent path.
I think this must be a caching issue.
Are there any executable lines I could try in devel to do a hard flush?
