Project

This module provides project management tools for Drupal sites.

Overview

Projects are generally assumed to represent software that has source code, releases, and so on. This module provides advanced functionality for browsing projects, optionally classifying them with a special taxonomy, and managing downloads of different versions of the software represented by the projects. It is used to provide the downloads pages for Drupal.org.

Project nodes also help Drupal integrate with various software revision control systems. See the Version Control API, CVS Integration, and Subversion modules for more information.

Version Explanations

The 6.x-1.0-alpha5 version of this module is the one that's running on www.drupal.org. There are still some blockers to fix before we can create an official 6.x-1.0 release. Production sites are discouraged from upgrading their 5.x version until there's an official 6.x-1.0 release.

Roadmap

There is a Drupal 7 version of this module in the works (7.x-2.x-dev) based upon the latest roadmap for D7 Upgrade initiative, which supersedes the initial http://3281d.com/2011/10/26/report-from-project-7-sprint report.
