#D7CX pledge upheld: Zeitgeist received a full Drupal 7 release on the day that Drupal 7 was released.

Description

This is a module implementing history functions for search. It enables a configurable "recent searches" block, and future versions can use its data to provide frequency reporting on searches over various time periods.

It has been developed as an answer to issue #39267: Add a "recent searches" block for which the initially suggested solutions weren't seen as generally good. Although this functionailty exists in Drupal 7, Zeitgeist still does more than core.

Although Zeitgeist is designed for core search, on Drupal 7, it might/should work with other search engines.

Safety warning

It is generally NOT a good idea to activate the Zeitgest latest searches block for public display, as it can be used to display inappropriate content just by searching for it.

If you turn it on, it is recommended to exclude search from spidering in your robots.txt to avoid your site being picked up by them on searches.

Contributing / documentation

The module is now available directly on Drupal.org: the Zeitgeist wiki only contains documentation.

The 6.x and later versions now apply the Drupal coding standards, but for developers wishing to submit patches to Zeitgeist 4.7.x/5.x, please refer to the OSInet coding standards under which this module was maintained at the time, as this is slightly different from the Drupal coding standard.
