PM Growl is a module that adds a simple ajax layer to private message module (http://www.drupal.org/project/privatemsg) and alerts you of new messages using the jQuery growl plugin (http://www.stanlemon.net/projects/jgrowl.html).
This allows for simple instant messaging type applications in the site, with an elegant pop-up in the screen.
The module comes with a basic settings page to customize some of the functionality.
This module is still in development. If it looks useful to you, please check it out and submit bug fixes, features requests and patches and I will tend to them as quickly as possible.
Which version to choose
Make sure to you the correct version according to your version of Privatemsg. 6.x-1.x is only compatible with Privatemsg 6.x-1.x and and 6.x-2.x is only compatible with Privatemsg 6.x-2.x.
Installation
- Download and extract this module and privatemsg module into your modules directory
- Download the Growl plugin from http://www.stanlemon.net/projects/jgrowl.html and extract it inside of the pmgrowl module directory.
- Make sure that the jquery.jgrowl.css, and the jquery.jgrowl_minimized.js files are both directly inside of the pmgrowl/jgrowl directory.
- Enable the module
- Settings can be found at admin/settings/messages/pmgrowl
