Experimental project

This is a sandbox project, which contains experimental code for developer use only.

Metaverse is a suite of Drupal modules meant to update the dormant secondlife module. As such, it's based on the work of Khalid Baheyeldin, and also the work of ssm2017 Binder (SL and drupal.org name).

This module is woefully incomplete. But it has the following features:

  • Handles incoming requests from various virtual worlds, based on the X-Secondlife-Shard header.
  • Allows a whitelist of IPs per virtual world.
  • Allows the administrator to ban connections per virtual world.
  • Implements a request API very similar to that of secondlife module.
  • Leaves the door open for vast improvements.

Also included are some sub-modules which demonstrate linking Drupal users to virtual world avatars, 'autoregistering' avatars, and placing metaverse location information on nodes.

Anyone interested in this module should start reading the Metaverse group on groups.drupal.org, set up by ssm2017 Binder.
