I'd like to get a site with a top menu to select a certain topic, and once the topic is selected, a topic specific side menu with submenus appears. Furthermore, I would like the breadcrumbs to show both the topic from the top menu, and the path throughout the sidemenu.
the structure for example:
topic1 TOPIC2 topic3
TOPIC2
item1
-- item2
----- item3
----- item4
-- item3
---- ITEM5
---- item6
item7
-- item8
the breadcrumbs would then show "home>>topic2>>item1>>item3>>item5"
It topic1 is selected, a different side menu appears.
I think I can figure out how to do this using taxonomy based breadcrumbs to tackle the breadcrumb issue, and by creating different side menus, and choosing on which pages/nodes they should be displayed. This would be a hell of a job though, because I would have to assign links to all the taxonomy categories (i.e. going back and forth between content page and taxonomy page), and I would have to manually select all pages/nodes on which a certain side menu has to be displayed. This would be okay for a small menu structure, but seems to be a nightmare from maintenance point of view.
Is there any way to do this more elegantly or automated?
