It’s been hectic here, as is evidence by our late release. But don’t worry; we think you’ll find it’s worth it. We’ve also got a new newsletter management system powered by the simplenews module. We hope you’ll enjoy the new look.
Speaking of late, the freeze that was scheduled for last month still hasn’t happened, apparently as the lead developers wait for more cool stuff to get into the release. Let’s hope they get it done soon.
A major vulnerability was also found in flexinode module. Please go to http://drupal.org/node/32940 to see if you are affected. Don’t forget to subscribe to the security announcements mailing list to receive the latest updates http://drupal.org/security .
In other news, Neil Drumm has left CivicSpace Labs. In an email sent on Monday Neil said “The CivicSpace development team under Kieran's leadership is doing quite well and will continue to produce good software without me.” We hope all goes well with you Neil and best of luck in your new haunts!
Well, I don’t want to keep you from this month’s issue any longer, let’s begin!

Welcome back to the Drupal newsletter! We have received great acknowledgment from the community, and have had a generous supply of content thanks to our contributors. As always, we are a completely open newsletter. Good Drupal-related content is always welcomed and encouraged!
As you probably already have heard, Drupal 4.6.3 was released this week. The new XML-RPC vulnerability this addresses would allow an attacker to take over the server.
A code freeze in preparation of 4.7 was also announced this month. The freeze, scheduled to happen on September 1st, will move the latest HEAD code into a new 4.7 branch to be worked on, and debugged, before final release.
The Google Summer of Code (SoC) workers has also made some great enhancements to the codebase, adding many new modules and features for Drupal users to enjoy.
There is a lot more to discover this month, so let’s get started...
Welcome once again to the Drupal Newsletter! You’ll be happy to know we haven’t had to cut back for the summer (although the heat has made us slightly slower ;-) ).
The important news this month is our large scale outage lasting over 3 days which caused a severe disruption in the Drupal services. We are happy to say we are back on track now, and with even more services on the horizon!
It appears our downtime was a blessing in disguise. We raised over $10,000 USD in addition to in-kind donations of services and servers, and we set up a long term hosting plan for Drupal.org with OSL!
All of us at Drupal want to give our heart-felt thanks to those in the community who took it upon themselves to donate. Your donations will keep Drupal happily hosted for the foreseeable future.
Of course, Drupal has had lots of smaller announcements this month, including a restyled handbook, a wedding announcement, a security release and a Drupal UK meetup.
In all the summer rush, don’t forget to contribute to the Drupal Newsletter! Your contributions keep the Drupal Newsletter fresh and exciting, all year long!
There’s a lot to catch up on this month, and it all starts...right now.
Welcome to this month’s Drupal Newsletter! Last month, Drupal.org released Drupal 4.6.1 which fixed a serious security vulnerability. All users are recommended to update .
Of course, the Drupal community can’t always have their nose to the grindstone. The Bryght guys proved that with their “boot camp” photos.
Also, we’d like to welcome Drupal creator Dries Buytaert back from Chicago. He has a photo gallery of his trip here.
We wanted to make this month’s issue the best yet, so we’ve made various changes to this month’s newsletter. We’ve got a new layout thanks to Chris Messina (who is now working at Round Two ) and many new tips and tutorials from new contributors.
We also have a new events section, where you’ll be able to find all upcoming Drupal relevant events in a glance.
As always, we’re a community newsletter, so feel free to contribute and make Drupal Newsletter even better! (click on the "read more" link to read the full issue)
