Web technology is always changing at a rapid-fire pace. Keeping up is a never-ending challenge. Learning by Googling and watching YouTube tutorials is a hit-or-miss proposition. Remembering six months later how you built that app or fixed that bug means scribbling down and organizing random notes. Going back to school and getting certified can be an expensive undertaking.
Or, you can do what I did: make a career out of learning and documenting how to build that app or fix that bug.
