Suggested ways to improve the display and use of editable options of Node/Content Forms in Drupal
Suggested patch to fix an interface text issue
A few designs in the usability group that didn't make it to the production phase.Why I have contributed to Drupal:
I probably didn't mention it before. I usually contribute my skills for Open Source Initiatives as a way to give to organization's (whose efforts I can appreciate such as cancer awareness, health awareness and similar social groups which otherwise wouldn't be able to afford or identify that they need the skills of an experience/interaction/interface designer to make their websites easier to reduce the need to have intensively trained website administrators) can benefit from my skills and expertise in designing easier to use interfaces for websites built on Drupal.While the above contribs do act as a way to advertise my ability to perform work and to give back to the community, the core reason for my participation has been to enable multiple organizations or individuals promoting social causes to benefit from my skills and expertise (even when I was only practicing with the primary reason for my participation being unexpressed.)
I'm not interested in performing further interface/interaction design contrib work unless I am certain the teams interested in converting contributed designs into working modules, have a core focus on giving to org's that couldn't otherwise afford the services of the extremely skilled project leads/designers/programmers in an OSS community such as Drupal.
I'm not interested in catching the eye of whomever is interested in a free ride or promoting themselves through contributions. I've had far too many offers from such companies who are looking for a freebie, a low cost Indian, pasting their name all over contributed work. I'm not even interested in individuals asking for a better interface/interaction/user flows for their contributed modules just so that they can have their module designed to be easier to use when no non-protest/non-dissent social awareness group would benefit from it. I'd rather be chilling with my social groups for leisure than provide contributed work for reasons that have nothing to do with Social Awareness Activities/Events.
Giving back to the community and being noticed by larger firms is an added bonus of contributing to causes which otherwise wouldn't be able to employ individuals with an ability to design for easier to use interaction. Such causes cannot always afford to train individuals on how to manage a website's feature, hence I contributed what spare time I could to designing interfaces that allowed a websites features to be easier to use for untrained social awareness supporters/promoters.
About Drupal services I provide(d):
I
am currently availableused to turn Designs (PSD/PNG) into CSS/XHTML Drupal themes as well as Drupal site installation and configuration.My Linked In Profile describes some of the work I've done for Drupal (I'll be adding more details about why I contribute to OSI's on there too and probably would keep my Linked In Profile more up to date than my Drupal profile:)
http://www.linkedin.com/in/stevejbayerWhat I have done/do as a Drupal contributer:
When applicable (ie. the work benefits the construction of websites for social awareness and charitable organizations,) I contribute my interaction design expertise to Drupal core module interface development and contributed module interface development.
I assist/facilitate the Malayalam translation of Drupal so that websites that need multiple users to promote social awareness events (cancer awareness, health awareness, etc..) in the Kerala region of India (my host state) can benefit from a Malayalam version of Drupal without me being able to actually speak or write in Malayalam.
