The Drupal world can be a lot to wrap 1/3 of your brains around. But, I spend lots of time trying to get a handle of it in hopes of being able to make some contributions to others where I can. Not having grasped Drupal coding yet, most of my contributions have been in testing patches, test driving new modules (including sandbox projects) and reporting back the results in the issue queues. Once I grasp the concept of a particular feature of a module, I will usually contribute a step-by-step to the documentation.
