Leif Utne is a social technologist, journalist, musician and social entrepreneur. A passionate advocate for the open-source movement, when Leif isn’t on the clock as VP of Business Development at DrupalSquad, he is the co-owner and CFO of Cross Cultural Journeys, a tour operator specializing in legal group travel to Cuba. Prior to joining us, he led marketing and sales for a variety of online media startups, including QuantumShift TV and Worldchanging.com, and spent eight years as online editor at Utne Reader magazine. As VP of Business Development at DrupalSquad.com, I support the Drupal community by providing cost-effective expert maintenance, support and development services to site owners and other Drupal shops. I'm a passionate advocate of open data, open government, open media, the sharing economy, and all kinds open-source software, but especially Drupal. I'm a regular attendee of the Seattle Drupal Users Group (SEADUG) meetups and organized the first-ever Bainbridge Island Drupal User Group meetups. I attended the Pacific NW Drupal Summit 2012 (Seattle), as well as DrupalCon Denver 2012, DrupalCon Munich 2012, DrupalCon Portland 2013 and DrupalCon Austin 2014. I was also a co-convener and moderator of OpenGov West 2011 (Portland) and 2010 (Seattle), where I met Andrew Hoppin, a legend in the Drupal and open gov communities. In 2012, Andrew and his team at NuCivic partnered with Warecorp and founded DrupalSquad.com.
