Drupal
- Drupal contributions
As Rootwork.org says, I develop websites and online strategy for nonprofits and social change -- and I do almost all of it in Drupal, since the waning days of 4.5.
I create custom themes for every project I work on. I often intend to turn these into contributed themes, but they're often so content-specific that they become unworkable. That's a lesson for aspiring theme-developers: theme to your content! Generalized d.o themes are great, but your site has a specific purpose and audience and your theme should reflect it. As you might imagine, I'm a big fan of the Design for Drupal initiative, and loved the inaugural 2009 event in Boston.
I did a bunch of work on the Theming Views 2 handbook page at the Drupalcon DC 2009 doc sprint. I'm often on #drupal-support and #drupal-themes to try to help out others. More often than not, I'm on #drupal to ask questions -- I know PHP for theming purposes, but I'm always looking for more comprehensive programming tips.
My other contribution of sorts has been a particular focus on Drupal as a CMS particularly useful to nonprofits and social change groups. I wrote an article, Drupal for Nonprofits, and made a similar presentation at the 2008 Philly Drupal Camp. At the 2009 Philly Drupal Camp, I presented on modules that help make life easier for non-technical site editors -- like nonprofit staffers!
I'm on a variety of "nonprofit tech" lists (and I'm the co-organizer of the nptech group Philadelphia NetSquared) and I'm regularly in the role of Drupal evangelist.
