I have focused my education and career around web development best practices and Open Source CMSs. Over the past 10 years, I have worked closely with clients to define project requirements, migrate content, integrate the new site with other systems. My experience building a CMS from the ground up (the ‘Bricolage’ system which runs sites including WHO and Salon.com) allows me to quickly understand new systems to efficiently map data into the Drupal framework.
My background in information science is particularly useful when it comes to defining Drupal content types, taxonomies, and menu systems. I am familiar with dozens of Drupal modules to help extend and customize the system. I have used and contributed to several modules to help migrate data from diverse CMS systems
I have proven skills working with people from diverse cultures and technological levels-- from providing basic computer literacy training for rural Nepali teachers to graduate-level courses on best practices for knowledge taxonomy development. I am comfortable using and managing virtually any communication platform including mailing lists, discussion forums, microblogging sites, and wikis.
