Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
Hi! Rachel here from the UK. Last trip by boat was a bit of a return to my childhood with an entirely unnecessary trip across Lake Windermere in the UK Lake District, on the motorbike

https://www.drupal.org/node/3071313 is in review and needs some more review and discussion

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
agreed - I’d like to be involved in a deeper discussion on that. Could you create a doodle and find some time anyone who wants to could meet up?

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
Sorry, I missed this one @rachel_norfolk. I don't think I've ever actually created a doodle before. Mind kind of racing at the moment. I probably don't have much meeting time available in the next 2 weeks.

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
okay - no worries.

:two: . :one: Personas: Personas are in the community section. Please refer to these. https://www.drupal.org/getting-involved-refresh-personas. Is there anything we need to do to these now before they can be regarded as “golden”?

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
Follow-up related task from the Mentoring working group that needs work from a content strategy and design: https://www.drupal.org/project/mentoring/issues/3061539

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
We want to take the "task cards" and update these, but also look at transforming those into an easier to organize and distribute format "rack card".

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
ah! interesting

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
And also add some contribution roles that have been active during contribution days in Seattle and Darmstadt, the "localizer" role and the "marketing/advocate" role.

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
I’ve literally just finished a meeting about havign a marketer table - can you involve @pixelite in that card content?
:heavy_plus_sign:
1

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
The latter is based on contribution day activities led by Baddy (I'm sorry for not being able to quickly use unicode, please correct) and Rachel in Darmstadt.

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
Yes, we need more eyes on this to try to get these printed for Amsterdam 2019

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
Thank you,

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
also, Carole@association.drupal.org

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
ANyway @rachel_norfolk’s idea of "Marketer" ties in the Skill "Marketing" and Motivation Wants to grow their business through greater exposure, reputation building, or sponsorship

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
tell carole I sent you

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
YES!

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
But @Chris Darke also mentioned Advocate.

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
Please post comments and ideas.

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
@rachel_norfolk, i can ping her on the other Slack in the contribution day channel.

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
Is Carole on the DA Slack?

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
yes

:two: . :two: Writing Style Toolset: How are we doing with the toolset to manage the writing style? see #3072788: https://www.drupal.org/project/drupal_org_community/issues/3072788

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
I haven't done any more evaluation myself. Does anyone else have any updates? @Melissa Stamm?

Melissa Stamm 3 days ago
There hasn't been any new feedback on tools and I haven't received any more requests for access to the spreadsheet

Melissa Stamm 3 days ago
I can possibly fill in the Grammarly info. Are there any new tools to investigate or should we call this done (once I finish Grammarly)?

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
Okay - can we say the next task here is to decide on a method of assessment?
:heavy_plus_sign:
1

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
Then we have some level playing ground

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
I think that makes sense.

Melissa Stamm 3 days ago
You mean assess or rank the tools against each other? I still feel it's going to be largely a matter of personal preference/comfort and intent (e.g., grammar vs accessibility vs other considerations). I don't think there's one tool to rule them all
:heavy_plus_sign:
2

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
Coming up with a guide to assess the tools. I think that some tools can be assessed against each other based on the type of tool. Like it probably wouldn't make sense to assess the command-line linting tools with the online tools.

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
But maybe being able to assess if the tool can be used at all based on being able to review a page or content with whatever style guide is decided?

Carolyn Shannon (she/her):seedling: 3 days ago
I think one of the sticking points here is establishing a relatively simple workflow with >1 linting tool; some of these might require switching between tool types (stand-alone, command line, VS plugin).

Carolyn Shannon (she/her):seedling: 3 days ago
Does it make sense to try to map a workflow visually, listing the linting tools available for each type?

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
I think that would help me.

Carolyn Shannon (she/her):seedling: 3 days ago
OK I can try to map that.

Rachel Lawson (DA) 2 days ago
Thanks!

:two: . :three: DrupalCon Amsterdam 2019: What can we do in Amsterdam to progress this work?

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
Specifically, how can we set things up so we can have a table in Amsterdam where people can do useful work for us?

Chris Darke 3 days ago
a table during the event or on the sprint day?

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
I was thinking contribution day
:heavy_plus_sign:
1

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
If we had one person who ran a table, to help this project, what would they get people doing and what do they need to do that?

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
Oh - and if we had a volunteer to own this particular challenge, I would be very happy

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
Are there folks who were in the BoF at Darmstadt that you ran that can be pulled into this?

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
That will be attending Amsterdam and more importantly the contribution day?

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
Maybe. That was more marketing, though

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
Oh, right, sorry.

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
Hmm - though there were some interested in the whole /community area

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
I think that we can have a mentored contribution table working on contributing back to Getting Involved guide. The difficult part is going to be issue triage

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
interesting - let me think on that

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
And triaging some work to be done.

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
yes

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
The knowledge of a novice contributor coming up with novice contribution documentation is appealing.

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
I mean, I could do some. My question is around how we get tools etc right beforehand or make somewhere to add stuff that can be altered later

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
If we can come up with a system, we can make it work
:heavy_plus_sign:
1

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
the opportunity of all those people is too big to ignore

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
Yes, we need tools or a work flow to go through.

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
Like a Major Issue Triage work flow

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
Even if we created the whole thing as a skeleton, would that help?

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
I think if we can get a few bits of content to test out the entire process of updating the guide that would also really help.

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
true. Let me chat with @hestenet (he/him) on his return from vacation and we will see

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
issue -> content needs a home -> evaluate -> write/edit -> review/lint -> add follow-up for d.o to update links -> fixed?

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
yep

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
I think having a work flow chart with that at the event would help because it's goin to be a new process that we're all working toward.

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
So maybe a new issue about this in the queue?

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
yeah

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
can you make one?

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
I can.

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
So, it seems that the agreement on basic structure, a place to put things, a list of issues attached to parts to work on and a clear explanation fo what we are trying to do are the things we need for amsterdam. Agreed?
:heavy_plus_sign:
2

Chris Darke 3 days ago
structure would make a lot more bite sized tasks that novices could work on

:three: Anything Else?: What else do we need to talk about?

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
https://www.drupal.org/node/3077474 Seems also to need a review

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
Does anyone have any thoughts or could help jennifer with the review?

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
I’ll put some more into it

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
I have more time now elections over

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
(phew)

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
Oh, d.o. elections.

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
yeah

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
the other thing is a complete mess

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
I felt like I missed something

That’s all for now!
The discussions continue in the threads! Please feel free to chime in within the next 24 hours to be captured in the meeting notes. Thank you very much to everyone for attending, learning, and contributing!

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
Thank you for organizing.

mradcliffe:redpanda: 3 days ago
It's :taco: time for me

Rachel Lawson (DA) 3 days ago
That’s unfair - I’m in UK and I still have another meeting to go yet!

Chris Darke 3 days ago
thanks!!
