there's over 50000 installs of this module, and there is a backlog of important fixes that are RTBC ready to go in, including very good fix that I I created for fixing a sorting issue. There's an important php 7.x fix as well that is ready.

Yes, this look pretty abandoned. There is no sign of any maintainers monitoring issue queues (5 code issues RTBC) and no recent activity by any maintainer.

There is also an issue from 2005 (#2419393: Port FacetAPI to Drupal 8) where the owner says he is looking for a new maintainer.

I've transferred ownership.

I have no idea what happended. You were given the permission "Write to VCS": Allows a user to commit or push to the repository associated with this project.

However, I just went back and resaved the maintainer tab just now, and you now appears on:

I hope this resolves it.
