When I enabled email_verification I got a page with this message:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function getmxrr() in F:\wamp\www\DrupalTest\sites\all\modules\email_verify\email_verify.install on line 22
I am using Drupal 5.9

Perhaps just a warning issued? Attached is patch which does this (patched against 6.x-1.x-dev 2009-Mar-19).
And here is a screenshot of the warning message. ;)

dbr CreditAttribution: dbr commentedThanks for the patch. I applied it.
The point of the duplicate status is to keep all the information in one place, so i'll comment at http://drupal.org/node/119163
