There are a few strings I want to change to fit my site better, I figured I could edit a translation file, but that seems to be "complicated" with english. Is there a file that I need?

You can create a new language, e.g. "English (local)" with code "en-local" and 'translate' the strings.

I made the new language, however there is no strings appearing after I did the search thingy....

You need to enable the new "language" as well.

Ok the new language is enabled.

However, as a possible point of intrest it says "0/0 (0%) Translated"

Drupal should now pick up the strings as you surf the site.

Are the string search results output elsewhere? This is what I've done:

  1. Added a new language (en-local, as suggested in example)
  2. Enabled the language
  3. Browsed a bit in a separate window to find context for link strings I wanted to translate
  4. Using "manage strings," searched for strings in all languages
  5. The search screen just reloads, with no strings listed
  6. I tried again with the search box empty (to find all strings), but still no results
  7. I tried again selecting just English (provided by Drupal), and still no results
  8. Is there something I'm missing?

At least that is my assumption. My string search came up gangbusters once I made the "new" language the default. I thought I would share that here for anyone trying this in the future.

BTW, I love the simplicity and elegance of this approach to rewriting the strings. Thanks!
