Support for Drupal 7 is ending on 5 January 2025—it’s time to migrate to Drupal 10! Learn about the many benefits of Drupal 10 and find migration tools in our resource center.
In Germany and Switzerland (and maybe other countrys) it's not allowed to send mails to users with a simple single-opt-in registration.
Maybe this module can be extendet with a (otional) duble-opt-in (confirmed opt-in) with email-verification.

litwol CreditAttribution: litwol commentedI dont think i will be able to implement this feature any time soon. If you can contribute development time or hire a developer to do it, i would be happy to commit your patch into this module.

tgeller CreditAttribution: tgeller commentedI've changed the title of this issue for historical reasons. "Double Opt-In" is a politically loaded term invented by spammers who wanted to be able to add anyone they wanted to their lists, for any reason, without recipient permission. "Double" suggests that there's unnecessary burden on recipients. "Confirmed opt-in" more accurately describes the process.
I sure hope this feature could be implemented. Since Drupal Gardens uses the module, I'm posting on their boards to encourage its support.

tgeller CreditAttribution: tgeller commentedJust to quickly clarify my own post: It appears that Drupal Gardens is going to try to implement MailChimp integration for mailing lists: See http://www.drupalgardens.com/content/mailing-list-signup. Thanks for all your work!

manuel.adanAt this moment, there is no further development for the 7.x branch, only bug fixes. Please, re-open this issue if someone else wants to contribute by implementing the opt-in basic feature. This feature is already present in the current 8.x version.
