I'm working on integration for path redirect. This would allow you to import and track redirects from where your old content was to where it is now.

I have one patch for this feature :-)

The idea with the relation with a node is to map an existing node(by nid or migrate source id) to the path specified in the node now.

I'd suggest closing this as a duplicate - the path_redirect module has been moved to "redirect" for Drupal 7. A patch is under review at #1116408: Support migrate module: Destination handler class.

Moving back to D6, should anyone want to submit a patch for path_redirect on D6.

path_redirect appears to be pretty much dead (no commits in over a year).
