Hi!
This module will be amazing! It´s the feature that Date Repeat needed!
Is it planned a stable 6.x release soon?
Thanks!

I'm using this on a couple sites without issue. I'd recommend at least a dev release so it gets more testing. As it is, alot of people won't even be able to find the download to test it.

I'm going to try this. I want to set up monthly meetings using a date repeat and add a link to the agenda when it's ready about a week before the meeting. This will also let me deal with moving individual meetings that fall on holidays. Please make it real!

Subscribing. I'll give it a try on a test site, but would like to see a dev release before I put it on a live site. Thanks.

subscribe. This module seems like a really good idea!

Subscribe. Implement the functionality that is purported to being worked on (i.e. ability to batch edit the nodes generated where you can edit "all" or "all future") and this will be a HUGE module in the Drupal community. The originator of the Date module has concurred for 3 years that this is a needed functionality. It seems that this is one of the most sought after features in Drupal, yet no one has had the time to fully develop it.

Hello,

I was wondering if this module is still being developed?
I would love to have this feature on my site.

Thank you very much

Very interested in a Drupal 7 build.

There is a real need for this module

El Bandito’s picture

In case any of you haven't found it there is a more sophisticated alternative to this module here http://drupal.org/project/date_repeat_sequence.

MrPaulDriver’s picture

Thank you El Bandito. I hadn't found Date Repeat Sequence, so thank you for pointing it out.

I notice that this is a fairly new module so hopefully there will be some enthusiasm to move it on and port it to Drupal 7.

Thanks for pointing us out that link!
This project seems pretty dead, so, we can try that one instead :)

I had already tried that one. It didn't do what I need. I also tried Date Repeat Instance and Node Repeat.

I need each date to be a real and separate node. I'm using the Date Repeat Node Generator (with my patch) to maintain calendar items which I display using views. Having single-date nodes simplifies the view tremendously. It also lets me change the description to link to the meeting agenda when it's available and delete individual entries. I do plan a D7 version of this module in the very near future. I want the ability to edit the selected node or the selected node and future ones. I've got some ideas for doing that. That will come after I've got my site running on D7.

MrPaulDriver’s picture

I will be interested in your progress. Please keep us posted.

I've just released a dev version. It doesn't support editing of sequences yet, but it will. This version fixes reported problems and works with pathauto and views.

I will be very interested in feedback.

vgriffin, I'm confused. My understanding is that date_repeat_sequence does create the nodes as individual nodes. It also allows for editing the nodes individually or in sequence. How exactly does it not do what you're seeking to accomplish?

I'm curious because I've been seeking this functionality for a very long time now and would love to see a few people pool their efforts to make it happen even more quickly. I'm happy to test, but not to test three or four different modules on a regular basis.

When I was first developing my site, I used Date Repeat Node Generator. Later, I spent some time looking at other options. The comments I still have about date_repeat_sequence are somewhat picky, and I probably should report them as issues:

As soon as any edits are made to a node, it is removed from the sequence. I'd like to have "monthly meetings" remain a sequence as I add agendas or do other edits. I recognize that making group edits to nodes that may have otherwise been changed may not be supported, but such nodes should be included so they can be part of deletes.

Other than in the monthly calendar, dates are shown as "Repeats every 2 days until Sun Dec 18 2011 . Sun, 11/27/2011 - 8:00pm - 10:30pm" instead of "Sun, 11/27/2011 - 8:00pm - 10:30pm".

I want my site to use D7 as soon as it can. Therefore, I'm willing to put some time into a module over which I have control. As soon as I've got a release candidate, I'll start converting to D7.

Thank you for the clarification. Your request certainly makes sense as an issue/feature request for date repeat sequence. He's been moving along pretty quickly so I would think that you two together could make some magic.

I'm curious, are talking about attaching an agenda? or editing a field where the agenda is kept? I would think you could add an attachment without breaking the sequence. I'm guessing the logic behind removing an edited node from the sequence is to address potential data problems. For example, let's say that one of your fields is "Location". You hold this meeting weekly at the same location. Let's say that you have a special occasion on one of the meetings 12 weeks out and it's being held at a special location. So you edit the node for that date to change the location for just that date. Now, let's say a couple of weeks later, your regular location for these meetings is to change for one reason or another. So you want to edit all of the nodes in the sequence to reflect the new "regular" location. Since you left the "special location date" in the sequence, when you do the "edit all" it will be effected as well. Now you have to hope you remembered that date so you can go back in and enter the special location for that week again.

And this is a very simplistic example of why keeping a changed node in the sequence can potentially create issues. I'm curious how you might be able to address it so that both needs are covered.

It does seem that a number of projects are working on the same thing. To my knowledge these are;

http://drupal.org/project/date_repeat_nodegen

http://drupal.org/project/node_repeat

http://drupal.org/project/date_repeat_sequence

In addition KarenS of Date Module fame has also commented recently about possibly including such features in the Date module. See http://drupal.org/node/298334#comment-5292098

Paul, it's important to note that there has been talk of incorporating this feature into the Date module for over three years now. That's how old that other thread you are following is. That's not to say that there may not be renewed interest and motivation to get it done. I'm just not sure anyone should hold their breath.

MrPaulDriver’s picture

MacaroniDuck, yes I realise that. Although it was through that thread that I learned of the modules mentioned here, so not time wasted (for me at least)

Gotch... how many f**** modules are we going to make the same things!

I going to put all those modules are not maintained. Nobody put patch but people create new modules... WTF.

So won't fix. get an alternative.
