Support for Drupal 7 is ending on 5 January 2025—it’s time to migrate to Drupal 10! Learn about the many benefits of Drupal 10 and find migration tools in our resource center.
It would be helpful to be able to explain users what is happening when they get greylisted. From the remarks in the greylisting form on drupal.org it is clear that users are often very confused.
I think adding some sort of message that can be defined in the backend would do the job, similar to the "site is down" message when you take a Drupal-site offline.

bryrock CreditAttribution: bryrock commentedThis has just been committed to 6.x-2.x-dev (but wait for the updated roll-out).
There previously were hard-coded messages to both grey and blacklisted users. I've used these as the defaults for newly configurable messages in the admin interface.
After review I will also add the feature to 7x version, and update release candidates for both 6 & 7.

Diane Bryan CreditAttribution: Diane Bryan commentedI just got the message, which identifies BL as the source of the greylisting... whatever that is. Definitely would help to have a user-friendly instruction set. Here's the message I get:
Sorry, 202.62.123.237 has been greylisted by http:BL.
(That IP address is not mine, but clearly my connection is passed through that IP addy)
