You didn't paste the actual error (part of Response Text: I guess), we can't debug it based on this.

I'm getting the same thing here, but my error occurs during the install procedure. Installing on MAMP 2.0.5 Pro

It gets to the Order module (~20-25% in) and then this comes up:

The error that gets displayed out doesn't contain the ResponseText

There's maybe more information in your apache and php logs.

Same thing here. I tried to install on LAMP, MAMP, a LAMP jumbox, just can't install Drupal Commerce Kickstart 2.0.

Plenty of people have. But there's obviously something specific in your configuration that's causing the error.

Please take a look at your error logs. The actual error should be there, and it will allow us to fix it.

Hi, I'm testing the 2.x-beta1 installer today and also got this error, I've attached a few screenshots if that helps. There's the initial error (which wasn't very descriptive, just "AJAX 500 Error"), then a link to the error page. I hit the back button from the error page and it coughed up the error output below.

I chose to install the demo store and demo content. The demo store loads when I go to the site URL, but no demo content was loaded. I was installing it in a subdirectory of my dev server - http://development.nogood.lan/commerce_kickstart-7.x-2.0-beta1/

Also - "Recent log messages" show no errors or warnings. "Status Report" is a white screen http://development.nogood.lan/commerce_kickstart-7.x-2.0-beta1/?q=admin%2Freports%2Fstatus&, and after clearing caches I get more white screens and errors (see attached images). Hope this helps.

We have the same problem.

From the apache log we find this:

I have now reinstalled the shop without enabling the language translation. Now the shop installs without any problem so it seems to be some language problem during the installation.

There is no "same problem". Ajax error 500 is the way all errors appear during install.
And "cannot sort migration list" just means that the installation of a module failed (leading to missing migrations).

Allow me to drop a few comments;

I had the same errors. After trying several different server configs, I concluded it was caused by not having sufficient memory. Furthermore, I experienced timeouts, namely when installing the demo store.

Earlier comments and suggestions lead me to tinker with php.ini and my.ini on my local dev machine, and I was then able to successfully install Commerce Kickstart.

Now, I run a Xampp on a Win 7 with no shortage of resources, and yet it was quite a 'heavy' install. Especially the install of the Search module, during demo store install. Xampp in itself is a slow dog, but the install took about half an hour!

Here's the settings it works with:

In php.ini:
max_execution_time = -1 (default is 60 seconds, -1 is unlimited)
max_input_time = -1
memory_limit = 512M

xdebug.max_nesting_level = 500

If possible, use either [my-large.ini] or [my-huge.ini], rename it to my.ini, restart sql server, and see if it improves performance.

After install, I have moved it to a hosted server, where it runs quite smooth with normal server settings, and only 128MB available.

BTW; I don't mind to share my other findings on this dev/beta version. Where would it be best to give feedback?

Hi, yes - what @Drunkensailor said - I adjusted my php.ini to:

max_execution_time = -1 (default is 60 seconds, -1 is unlimited)
max_input_time = -1
memory_limit = 192M

and the demo store installation completed in about 20 minutes on my 1GB RAM virtual machine. Also - here is the apache error.log message regarding my previous post #7:

Okay, so nothing more to do here.

We've slimmed down the Search module for beta2 (soon to be tagged), and continue to improve the installation process, performance and memory usage. It's not ideal, but that's how it is with Drupal and large installation profiles.

Hi, just a follow up that, with my (unmodified/default php.ini on Debian Squeeze) I did NOT have any memory issue with 7.x-2.0-beta2! Great work Commerce Guys!

#11 worked for me. Running default apache on macbook pro retina. No mamp or other stack.

Not working for me. I've set the php limits to "unlimited" as shown but the ajax error still arises and an apache error log

Anyone having lots of AJAX issues might want to try disabling the jquery_update module, worked for me. Just spreading the info, unsure if it's related to this issue.

This is still a problem when behind a load balancer. If a step during the install takes more than 30 seconds (and with Drupal Commerce Kick Starter, I've seen this happen), then the load balancer will drop the connection if no output has been sent before then... something needs to be sent to keep the connection alive, in the case of load balancers.

I am still verifying that this is the cause, I saw this error while installing last night:

RackSpace Cloud has told me this is most likely due to the load balancer on Cloud Sites dropping the connection, and upon attempting a reinstall, I DID notice a delay on some parts of the install longer than other parts, right before it failed, so this is a very likely explanation.

I will know more once the escalation team takes a look at the apache error logs in the morning.

I DID have it install just fine a week ago, so it appears if the database server slows down and you're installing a large Drupal distribution, you run the risk of timing out the load balancers before the install completes. I will spin this off into it's own issue if that is confirmed to be what the problem is. (This probably affects more than just Drupal Commerce Kickstart too) This is definitely an intermittent problem, as it's failing at different places each time I re-run the installation.

Since setting the execution time has no effect on the expiration time for the load balancer, this won't help as per the above posts, so those fixes won't work for everyone.

you can also find with google "40 seconds" instead of 31 seconds.
i suppose this is by default with other control panels or apache installations.

i began by applying the following php.ini parameters :
max_execution_time = 180
max_input_time = 180
max_input_nesting_level = 300
memory_limit = 512M

and then i followed these advices :

the IPCCommTimeout and FcgidIOTimeout parameters are concerning the same parameter
but under different apache subversions thus i recommend to apply both.
those timeout values are for a development, not production. please apply 120 or 300 seconds instead :)

I realize estrange behavior, when installing demo-shop content if process increase for 0 modules to 39 modules when arriving to 39 (100%) appears this error, but if the process increase from 0 to 38 there is no error, meaning that for some estrange reason some times install 39 including error other 38 without error. the only thing i changed from error installation to no error installation is changing php from 5.2 to 5.4, so as my little knowledge, should not make any difference.

Errors appear when the installation is too slow. PHP 5.4 is faster than PHP 5.2 So the speed increase is sometimes enough to get you over the line.

I think that the main cause of the slowness is the Features rebuilding. Planning to look into improving that.

This error happened under PHP 5.4, as well as PHP 5.3. But 5.4 was tried first.

I have same problem with installation of Drupal 7.18. At first I think, that problem could be in PHP server handling mechanism, so i change it from FastCGI (mod_fcgid) to mod_php5 and that do the trick. But then I realize that I install it successfully on ISPs server (they provide also webhositng services), where is also FastCGI PHP handling. But there are also other differences between my environment and ISPs.

ISP software configuration:

• Linux CentOS
• Apache 2.2.3
• PHP 5.3.19 (FastCGI, probably via mod_fastcgi)
• MySQL 5.0.95

My software configuration:

• Linux Gentoo
• Apache 2.2.23
• PHP 5.4.6 (-pl0-gentoo) (FastCGI via mod_fcgid, mod_php5)
• MySQL 5.1.62

In some way could be usefull to raise some limits in php.ini files (for both handling mechanism). Namely:

• memory_limit = 128MB
• max_execution_time = 300 (or even -1 which means unlimited)
• max_input_time = 300

For mod_fcgid virtualhost configuration I also tried to set this settings (but without success)

• FcgidMaxRequestLen 10485760
• FcgidIOTimeout 360

I hope that this informations could help you to resolve the problem, or to find workaround for people who cannot install Drupal.

I was able to identify that the problem is with the Drupal core and the translation process since the installation of the drupal core does not work in the Italian language.

the solution for this problem is the following :
even if you have this problem

1. click save and continue.
2. look at you wam server or mamp it changes color to orange
3. restart all services
4. save and continue

it should work

Drupal 7 core does not work in the Poland language.

install PHP 5.4
refresh the page when you get that error
change maximum_execution time at least to 300 in php.ini

Increase Drupal PHP memory-limit to 512M with the file : "sites/default/settings.php"

During installation of Drupal Kickstart and during installation script
I had the following error:

In the "var/log/apache2/error.log" file I had the message:
"PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted ..." .

To resolve this error, I increased PHP memory-limit to 512M .

I change the "sites/default/settings.php" file by adding this line:
ini_set (' memory_limit ', '512M ');

Warning: this new line can be erased from the file during the configuration steps ,
must verify that the new line : ini_set (' memory_limit ', '512M ');
is still present in the file before step "install demo store" , otherwise add
again the line in the file.

I also edit the file wamp/bin/apache/Apache2.../bin/php.ini
memory_limit = 512M

The below code is working in local machine.

Increasing the memory_limit setting on php fixed it for me. You might need to delete the database and start over again.

The following in php.ini worked for me:

I am new to Drupal and am trying to complete a Commerce Kickstart installation. I have the AJAX HTTP code 500 error. Not sure how to clear it up and complete the installation. It appears to have failed loading multiple modules. I have checked the directories and all of the files listed are on the server. Here is the error message. Any and all help would be appreciated.

To remove this error i return form_state array in VBO from submit. Then error disappear
