views embed video and colorbox

I am using fluid grid to display video thumbnails which I want when clicked to open a lightbox to view the embed video. But when I click on a thumbnail it gets me to a empty page with only the video

I have the embed video field in my content type and set it to thumbnail preview w/colorbox
I have colorbox module enabled as well as colorbox media and colorbox node
In the views I have set the format to show fields, and arranged it as follows:
Content: Video
Colorbox: Colorbox trigger

can anyone help me? what am I doing wrong? I have spent almost a day and cannot figure it out
