Running firefox 22, firebug 1.11.4, DrupalForFirebug extention 2.2, neither 1.4 or 1.x-dev provide any output in firefox. The extension shows up, and it does seem to identify that the module is running, as it gives tabs instead of the message that the module is not enable for the site, but none of the tabs have any content and calls to firep don't generate any output either.

I just did a fresh install of firefox and the module. Everything is populating correctly.

Could you please attach a file with the actual html for the page that is being accessed?
