Hi,
I am a drupal newbie. In my site I have a content type to manage sites specific data. I have a datefield data in that content type. Is there a way to set its default value as an absolute value (say 20th december 2011). The "Customize Default Value" allows only relative values. Thanks in advance.

You might want to start at the project page...
As the date field is not part of core, this isn't the best place for your inquiry.
In general, you'd want to start at the project page:
https://drupal.org/project/date
Perhaps search the issue queue to see if your issue has already been brought up:
https://drupal.org/project/issues/date?text=absolute+default+value&statu...
And if it hasn't, then submit your own issue (in this case, a feature request):
https://drupal.org/node/add/project-issue/date
Good luck…
Thanks
Thanks for taking me here https://drupal.org/project/issues/date?text=absolute+default+value&statu... This worked at last
