When i upload an .jpg image into a content type using the image field it will happily rename the file like:
"my.new.file.name.jpg"
However if it is a .gif image it will rename the file with just a dot '.' as the extention like:
"my.new.file.name."
FYI: Using Imagemagick as i need to keep the animation of .gif animations when imagecache changes the sizes.
Has anyone come across this before? Very strange indeed...

It's possible that it's related to the version of PHP you have or the Token you are using to rename the file, but I tested with a GIF and had no issues.
