This shows up as an error message when someone has a custom avatar. Sometimes their custom avatar goes missing. Doesn't seem like it updates other changes to the profile, either.

This was happening since upgrade to 2.7...

ok, unchecking "Force users to select an avatar image when editing their account" causes this to go away...

the code might need something to check (if that's enabled) whether they already have an avatar in place? just a guess.
